Hi, I’m Ximena Vélez — a Colombian journalist and educator who migrated to New York nearly 10 years ago with a degree in hand, but no idea how to start over.
Like many immigrant professionals, I faced the painful reality of being overqualified but unseen. It took years of navigating systems, learning the language, and rebuilding confidence to get back to my career. Today, I work in communications, and I’ve made it my mission to help others do the same.
That’s why I created 100 Résumés in One Day — a bilingual, in-person event designed to help immigrant professionals in NYC create a U.S.-ready résumé, explore job tools (like AI), and take a real step toward reentering the workforce in their field.
This is not just a workshop — it’s a reminder that we don’t start from zero, we start with experience. We just need the right support to show it.
I’ve hosted this event for three years now. And this year, with over 100 professionals expected to attend, I’m asking for your help to cover the cost of the venue and materials.
