Update: We’re Still Fighting for Benjamin’s Future

First, I want to say miigwetch to everyone who has donated, shared, or prayed for us so far. Your kindness and support have helped me raise $1,600 toward the legal fees needed to protect Benjamin’s future — and that means so much.

We’re getting close to a critical stage in this case, and time is running out. The legal deadlines are approaching quickly, and I still need to raise the remaining funds to keep moving forward with my lawyer.

Our deadline is this Friday, and I need to reach the goal by then to continue with the case. My goal remains $4,500, and we’re almost halfway there. Every dollar goes directly toward legal costs to ensure Benjamin can stay surrounded by his culture, his language, and the family who loves him.

This isn’t just about a case — it’s about keeping a little boy connected to who he is. He’s grown up learning our teachings, singing songs, and being part of our community.

This is my last chance to protect a young child in my family—his safety, his future, and most importantly, his Indigenous identity.

Since birth, this child has been surrounded by family, ceremony, and community. He knows his teachings, his songs, and the strength of where he comes from. But without your help, all of that is at risk of being lost.

I am currently in the middle of a custody case. The court has made it clear: unless I can raise the funds to cover legal and filing fees, the case will be barred and thrown out. That would mean losing the ability to protect this child and ensure he grows up knowing who he is as an Indigenous person, instead of being disconnected from his roots.

We urgently need to raise $4,500 to keep the case moving forward. Every dollar will go directly toward legal and court fees—nothing else.
