I have an unfortunate update on my current medical situation regarding my recent Stem Cell treatments for the repair of my spinal nerve damage, caused in great part by decades of Spinal Stenosis impinging and pinching the nerves.
Spinal Stenosis is a progressive condition that occurs when the spaces within your spine narrow, putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots that travel through the spine.
The worst symptoms of spinal stenosis include severe, chronic pain, significant leg weakness or numbness, and severe difficulty walking or maintaining balance. As it worsens, profound weakness or numbness occurs, resulting in an inability to walk, balance issues with frequent falls, severe chronic pain with constant, sharp, or burning pain that radiates down one or both legs (sciatica). These symptoms indicate severe nerve compression and require urgent medical attention.
About two weeks ago, I collapsed again in great pain after I had been doing so well. I had an MRI to determine what was going on in my back to have caused this setback, leaving me once again bedridden and in extreme agonizing pain.
My pain management team found that of the three Stem Cell treatments I had, two were successful in repairing and restoring my nerves, but the first shot, in the most severely damaged area, was not sufficient enough to fully heal the area. That is my L5, S1 lower lumbar region where I had my first surgery back in 1989. My disc had broken and had to be removed. It's the most invasive surgery I've ever had.
It is being recommended that I get a second follow-up Stem Cell injection in this region ASAP! The prognosis is around 95% for this follow-up injection to be successful.
As many of you might remember, that’s $5,500.00 per injection that my insurance does not cover.
The amount of this fundraising goal is $5,660.

To let you know, I was told at the outset, before these Stem Cell injections started, that the most damaged area I'm referring to here might require two injections. However, due to the high cost, it was decided at the time not to get it and charge for it unless absolutely necessary later.
