HI, my name is Renée. You have seen me at the park for many years, most recently pushing my pug, Saki, in her stroller.
Sadly, Saki passed away on March 18, at the age of 15.5
For all of those years, Saki walked this park daily and although she may not have played much with your dogs, she knew all of their pee by heart and could spot all of you treat-givers a mile away!
In honour of Saki and the pure joy that being at the park brings to all of us and our dogs, I have applied to the City of Edmonton to have a bench installed.
The city's process involves having the application approved as well as the funds being donated.
I have been in discussions with the City's bench program coordinator and she is excited to work with us in making this happen!
I need to raise $4700 - this includes installation, dedication plaque, and upkeep/maintenance.
It is my hope that I can gather support from fellow park users who would love and benefit from a place to sit and watch their dogs play, to sit and enjoy the sunshine, or to rest after a long walk. This bench will increase accessibility for those with mobility issues as well. The bench at the far end is, well, far and uphill and the picnic table is down a steep hill and not accessible when there is snow.
I have also started a Facebook group where we can further discuss fundraising ideas and I can provide you with all the updates.

It really is our community and our dogs that make this park special. I hope you will join me in this endeavor.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of Saki the Pug, her friend Ryleigh the Golden, and all of our dogs who so loved this park ❤️
