Lara’s Fight With Brain Tumor

Hi, my name is Christiane and I am beginning this GoFundMe on behalf of my beautiful, smart, caring, loving daughter, Lara, who was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumor.

Three years ago my husband and I, along with our two young children, moved to Canada in order to improve our quality of life for our children and to provide the best life for them. We are truly thankful to be in Canada and to have had the opportunity to meet and develop new relationships and friendships as all our family is not here with us.

The week of May 20th,2022 Lara began symptoms of having a squinty right eye and also was experiencing double vision. We brought Lara to CHEO in Ottawa, Ontario, where she was assessed by a neurologist and an MRI was performed.

On May 20, 2022, we received the worst possible news any parent can receive. Our beautiful 8, soon to be 9 years old daughter, was diagnosed with a very rare and inoperable brain tumor, called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This brain tumor currently has no cure and research is limited. Our hearts were broken and we were unsure of what our next steps would be to help our little girl fight this battle.

As we continue to fight and pray for the miracle that our little girl deserves, we are asking for your help. Along with all of your love and prayers for Lara, we are asking for donations to help fight this battle.

On June 6th, 2022, Lara had a brain biopsy to assess the type of mutation of cancer so that she can then enter into Clinical Trials. Lara will begin radiation therapy in the next coming days and will continue radiation for 6 weeks. After radiation is complete, clinical trials will be our next best option in hopes to keep Lara’s tumor from progressing and to keep her in a stable condition.

With your donation we will be able to cover costs of travel and accommodation for clinical trials that Lara is entered into. Along with the cost of food, gas, and any other unexpected additional cost that may occur with this diagnosis.

In addition, your donation will help cover wage loss due to myself and/or my spouse not being able to continue working as we will be home with my daughter to help care for her.
