Lappas Cancer Journey
Donation protected
For those who have been following the Lappas family's journey, you are aware of the tremendous challenges they've faced since Julian's initial bowel cancer diagnosis in November 2020. From the initial shock to the peaks of hope with successful treatments, and the valleys of setbacks, it's been an emotional rollercoaster for Julian, Katrina, and their two young boys, Oscar (aged 8) and Henry (aged 3).
Despite Julian and Katrina's unwavering resolve, cancer has relentlessly presented itself as an insurmountable adversary. After enduring surgeries, treatments, and countless medical interventions, Julian received the heart-wrenching news in December 2023 that his condition was now non-curative, with a life expectancy of 12-18 months.
Since then, Julian has displayed remarkable courage, confronting each day with fortitude despite battling excruciating pain and discomfort. He continues to undergo chemotherapy and struggles through part-time work to support his cherished family. Throughout it all, Katrina has been an unwavering source of strength, prioritising their well-being amidst the daunting daily challenges they face.
As their friend, witnessing their daily struggles is both heartbreaking and profoundly inspiring.
Having experienced the brutality of chemotherapy treatment myself, I understand firsthand that Julian's focus should be on his health and being surrounded by his loved ones, rather than grappling with the demands of work.
It is with this in mind that I am taking action. In September 2024, I will embark on a bicycle ride from my home in Golden Bay to Julians family home in Karratha, aiming to alleviate some of the burdens and provide moments of respite for Julian and his family, allowing them to cherish every precious moment together.
I ask each of you to lend your support. Please consider donating, offering financial assistance and allowing Julian to wind back his work (and hopefully finish up in the very near future), and that will not only ease their burdens but also afford them the opportunity to create lasting memories together and embrace each day with renewed strength and hope.
I understand that many of us are facing challenges of our own, but even the smallest contribution can make an immeasurable difference to this remarkable family in need.
Your support and encouragement carry immense significance and are deeply appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, I extend my sincerest gratitude for standing by Julian, Katrina, Oscar, and Henry during this arduous journey.
