Lapin's Workshop - A DIY Community Art Space

Hey guys! We're the admins of Lapin's Workshop at The Shack - a multidisciplinary DIY studio space where creatives in the New Orleans area can build community and express themselves through art.

So far, we've hosted collaborative arts and crafts nights, photoshoots, movie screenings, weekly drawing classes, guest artists, and we plan to expand our list of offerings in the new year.

Our events are almost always pay what you can with supplies provided. In order to keep Lapin's Workshop affordable and accessible, we are asking for donations. Per usual, all proceeds will go towards upkeep and art supplies for the studio. If you’re interested in donating supplies or equipment, message us on instagram @lapinsworkshop or shoot us an email.

We host a live model for figure drawing class every Tuesday at 7pm, where artists of all skill levels are encouraged to experiment with different sizes, styles, and mediums. We’ve recently started bringing on a monthly guest artist to teach the class, our first being John Isiah Walton, in order to introduce a variety of art and design styles that may be new or unfamiliar to students.

Our first Open Studio is on Thursday, February 1st at 7pm. This is an opportunity for artists of all creative disciplines and skill levels to share the studio space and get to know one another. We will provide arts and crafts supplies including paint and brushes, drawing supplies, collage materials, screen-printing supplies, fabric, lighting and backgrounds for photography, etc.
