The Landry’s have big news! We are
adopting again! 

Many of you know we are pursuing an older child in the Philippines who is going to be aging out soon. We don’t have much time but we are confident this can happen in time if we work together! 

We are beyond excited and are doing  everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of  our adoption process, we have started a  crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you  to hear that adoption related costs for the Philippines can easily  total up to $25,000 or more. This is why we  have set a goal of $10,000 to help cover a portion of the expenses. They will be needed so quickly and this will help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

Some of you have shared concerns asking, “where does all of this money go” so I thought I would share some of it. Putting together a family profile that encompasses every aspect of a family is hard work. We send documents over to the agency and they put it all together professionally. There are also many phone calls, interviews, home visits, and follow ups done by these agencies. They are responsible for knowing the next step and guiding us through it, while simultaneously vetting us and ensuring the child would be safe with us. This is a large chunk of the money. The third party costs like psychological evals, back ground checks, citizenship requests, mailing fees, travel costs, etc. all add up on top of it. Many steps put in place that cost money are to protect the child. We appreciate that, as hard as it might be financially. We hope to move onto step 3 of our process soon, but of course, with each step more money is required. Step 1 is paid for already, step two is mostly paid for, and we will finish paying that this week. This is moving very fast because of the sensitivity of this case. We are hoping step three can be completed within the next month, funded by this campaign, then we will again cover step 4 ourselves. Travel costs will soon come after. The last couple steps take the most time to happen as we wait for answers from USCIS and the Philippines. We appreciate you being willing to help us get there. 

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of our village that we hope to build around our child as she finishes her childhood years in our home.
