Don’t have time to read the whole story? Quick version: We are taking our whole family of 7 to Nepal in November and we need your help to get there!

How We Got Here
In 2016, Lisa went on a trip to Mumbai India, to visit and support organizations that help women and young girls who have been rescued from human exploitation. It was an experience that would change the trajectory of our lives forever. In 2017, she and Micah went to Kathmandu to further that work and connected with organizations doing similar work in Nepal. Many of the people that are sold to work in brothels in India and other places are trafficked out of Nepal, a country where impoverished people are desperate for hope. Since that fateful trip, Micah and Lisa have been back to India and Nepal dozens of times and Lisa’s role as a volunteer helping those organizations has evolved into a full-time job.

The possibility of eventually moving to Nepal has long be on our radar. We have been discussing this with organizations in Nepal since 2017 and we have tried not to rush any decisions, believing that this is a lifelong calling and one we will continue to move into at a steady pace. Since then, we keeps connecting with people here in the States who have been to Nepal and those who have deep connections to what God is doing in Nepal. While traveling to Dharan in January 2023, Micah began to feel that it was time to take the next step in investing more of our family’s time, money, and energy into the things we see God building in his Kingdom throughout Nepal.

What Will We Do There?
We plan to spend 6 weeks at the end of 2023 in Kathmandu, with additional travel in rural Nepal to serve with the organizations there. In many ways, this trip will be an opportunity to test the waters. In short, we want to better serve the people we already know, search out new niches to fill, and see how our family functions in this new context. We have spoken with the leaders of the various organizations we are connected to in Kathmandu and they’re all eager to have our help with various aspects of their work. Since committing to this plan, we have connected with a few new organizations as well. Lisa and Micah are completely at home in Kathmandu at this point, but none of the Landers kids have ever been there and the cross-cultural experience is a big question mark. In many ways, simply testing out how the family operates for a few months in Nepali culture will be a big factor in what happens and when in the forthcoming years.

How You Can Help
Please pray for us! We need spiritual support and encouragement to be able to do this.

Financially, there are many needs and ways to help. We are using some of our own money and taking significant amounts of time off of our paying gigs to go, but we will have to find help to make this possible. It’s never comfortable to ask for financial help, but we believe in a culture of gift giving. We want to give our time away and to do so we need the gift of financial provision. Financial gifts are always welcome and every little bit helps!

Please reach out if you have specific questions and thank you for being interested in supporting us!
