We’re the Lancashire House Project – a group of young people living in Preston taking on life’s biggest challenge: leaving care and living independently at 18.

On Saturday 18th April 2026, we’re hitting Avenham Park’s-Park Run at 09:00 for a sponsored run; to raise funds and awareness for care leavers starting out on their own.

Life is tough. the economy has crashed. Food banks have soared by 4,700% since 2010. At 18, we’re juggling rent, bills, and responsibilities on an income that’s lower than ever.

We’re not asking for luxuries—just a chance to brighten our week: a trip to the Lakes, a day at the Pleasure Beach, a cinema ticket, or a visit to a London museum. Things that make us feel like any other young person.
