En La Mosquitia hondureña, la región más aislada y olvidada de Centroamérica, cientos de familias viven rodeadas de ríos… pero sin acceso a agua potable. (Toca aquí para ver presentación, estudios y presupuestos detallados en PDF)

El año pasado enfoqué mi viaje en borrar los estigmas y mostrar la cara más auténtica de esta región a través de una serie en mi canal de YouTube.

Marcado por lo que vi, he decidido volver en enero a la región, mostrando nuevas rutas y darle voz a necesidades/realidades de la zona, y también conseguir fondos para este proyecto para comunidades olvidadas donde lo básico es un lujo.

¿POR QUÉ AQUÍ? - Dos pozos para Yamanta y Kruta (La Mosquitia)

Yamanta y Kruta son dos comunidades indígenas en el extremo oriental de Honduras. Aquí viven más de 3.000 personas (no existe censo oficial) que actualmente dependen de fuentes de agua superficiales, irregulares e insalubres.

La situación es crítica, especialmente en Yamanta, donde la urgencia es absoluta. En Kruta, aunque cuentan con algunos recolectores de agua de lluvia para el invierno, estos están expuestos a contaminación y enfermedades.

Hablamos de cientos de familias, niños y ancianos expuestos a parásitos y bacterias cada vez que beben un sorbo de agua.

‍GESTIÓN, SEGURIDAD Y COMPROMISO COMUNITARIO

Este no es un proyecto de "regalar y olvidar". La comunidad es parte activa de la solución:

Ubicación y Seguridad: La comunidad decidirá la ubicación exacta del pozo (cerca de una casa habitada para vigilancia), pero será un bien 100% comunitario. Se establecerán horarios y sistemas de cierre (candados) gestionados para asegurar que nadie se apodere del recurso y el acceso sea justo para todos.

Sostenibilidad Real: Las comunidades de Yamanta y Kruta se han comprometido a colaborar con el proyecto, ofrecer mano de obra no calificada durante el proceso de instalación del sistema, y a establecer una cuota anual por familia para el mantenimiento.

Socio Local: Ejecutamos esto junto a MOPAWI, una organización que ha trabajado +40 años en La Mosquitia, entendiendo la cultura, la logística y las necesidades reales de estas comunidades. Ellos se asegurarán de que la obra se realice responsablemente (estimado de 5 a 10 días de construcción una vez los materiales estén en sitio).

OBJETIVO

Garantizar el derecho fundamental al agua potable a través de la instalación de dos pozos de agua completamente autónomos.

Recaudar los fondos para la compra de materiales y equipos para dos sistemas completos (Pozo perforado + Bomba sumergible Solar/Eléctrica + Tanque de 5,000L).

️PRESUPUESTO ESTIMADO

Un proyecto en La Mosquitia tiene una complejidad logística mayor debido al transporte de cada material a una zona tan remota y poco accesible. Tras los estudios ya realizados por ingenieros expertos en la región, este costo incluye perforación, bombas, tanques, filtros y la compleja logística marítima.

OBJETIVO TOTAL DEL PROYECTO: 25.000€ - L 767.821

IMPACTO DEL PROYECTO

Estos dos pozos de agua que cambiarán la vida de dos comunidades enteras: decenas de familias, cientos de adultos, niños y ancianos que hoy dependen de fuentes inseguras para vivir.

In the Honduran Mosquitia, the most isolated and forgotten region in Central America, hundreds of families are surrounded by rivers... but lack access to clean drinking water.

Last year, I focused my journey on erasing stigmas and showing the most authentic face of this region through a series on my YouTube channel. Deeply moved by what I witnessed, I have decided to return to the region in January to explore new routes, give a voice to the area's needs and realities, and also secure funding for this project dedicated to forgotten communities where basic necessities are a luxury.

WHY HERE? – Two Wells for Yamanta and Kruta (La Mosquitia)

Yamanta and Kruta are two indigenous communities in the far eastern region of Honduras. More than 3,000 people (there is no official census) live here, currently relying on superficial, irregular, and unsanitary water sources.

The situation is critical, especially in Yamanta, where the urgency is absolute. In Kruta, although they have some rainwater collectors for the winter, these are exposed to contamination and disease.

We are talking about hundreds of families, children, and elderly people exposed to parasites and bacteria every time they take a sip of water.

‍MANAGEMENT, SECURITY, AND COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

This is not a "give and forget" project. The community is an active part of the solution:

Location and Security: The community will decide the exact location of the well (near an inhabited house for vigilance), but it will be a 100% community asset. Schedules and closing systems (locks) will be established and managed to ensure no one takes ownership of the resource and that access is fair for everyone.

Real Sustainability: The communities of Yamanta and Kruta have committed to collaborating with the project, providing unskilled labor during the installation of the system, and establishing an annual fee per family for maintenance.

Local Partner: We are executing this alongside MOPAWI, an organization that has worked for +40 years in La Mosquitia, understanding the culture, logistics, and real needs of these communities. They will ensure the work is done responsibly (estimated 5 to 10 days for construction once materials are on-site).

GOAL

To guarantee the fundamental right to potable water through the installation of two completely autonomous water wells.To raise funds for the purchase of materials and equipment for two complete systems (Drilled Well + Solar/Electric Submersible Pump + 5,000L Tank).

️ESTIMATED BUDGET

A project in La Mosquitia has greater logistical complexity due to the transportation of every material to such a remote and inaccessible area. Following studies already carried out by expert engineers in the region, this cost includes drilling, pumps, tanks, filters, and the complex maritime logistics.
