Lamar Childers Lung Transplant Journey

As some of you may know, Lamar Childers (Courtney Hancock’s dad) was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease in January 2024. During that time, blockages in his heart were found; those blockages were caused by his lung disease.

In July 2024, Lamar underwent open-heart surgery to fix the blockages and began therapy to regain strength.

Unfortunately, the lung disease had worsened, and he was unable to complete therapy. Not long after, he began using supplemental oxygen. His lung disease has progressed quickly, and the only cure is by getting a lung transplant.
