Lakota Horse Nation - Defend Weelaunee Forest

Donation protected
Please support the Lakota Horse Nation coming to defend Weelaunee Forest, a forest in unceded Muscogee homelands currently under attack by the Atlanta Police Foundation and Blackhall Studios. Led by an elder carrying a prayer to stop the destruction of Earth, Lakota Horse Nation is a group of land defenders, water protectors and horses that support direct action.

Lakota Horse Nation's visit here would include:
  • welcoming ceremony
  • support for on the ground efforts to #DefendWeelaunee
  • free trail rides and carriage riding for community
  • community horse dance/songshare

Funds will support Lakota Horse Nation's living/travel expenses to come be a part of this movement to #StopCopCity and #DefendWeelaunee. Updates about travel and expense breakdown will be posted on this page.

Weelaunee Forest is the largest forest left in Atlanta, and it is currently threatened by Cop City and Blackhall Studios.

The Atlanta Police Foundation is trying to bulldoze Weelaunee to build the largest police military facility in the country, a 381-acre police base that includes a mock city to practice urban warfare and "crowd control". This forest is also threatened by Blackhall Studios, which is trying to bulldoze essential ecological infrastructure on the Weelaunee Watershed.

Over the past year, community has come together to protect Weelaunee and stop the Atlanta Police Foundation's harmful plans for Cop City. Please support Lakota Horse Nation joining in this movement for protection, liberation, and community care.
