My name is Matthew Capps, and I’m a Life Scout with Troop 440 working toward my Eagle Scout rank. For my Eagle Project, I will be restoring the historic pavilion at Lake Frederick on West Point, New York — a scenic location that has been part of the community for generations is now in great need of restoration. This project is to include power washing and resurfacing the stonework, removing moss from the roof, clearing overgrown vegetation, removing graffiti, repairing of worn steps to create a safe entry for hikers, families, and soldiers to enjoy. Scouting has taught me the value of service, leadership, and to always leave a place better than you found it. This project is my chance to give back to a place that means so much to me, as well as my troop. It has provided us with many enjoyable camping memories over the years. Any support small or big will help with the purchase of materials to preserve this historic space for years to come. Thank you for your support.
