The Lake Carmel Explorers are a group of young men and women ages 14-18 that work and train alongside members of our local fire and EMS services. Explorers come from anywhere in the surrounding area and are not necessarily living in Lake Carmel. Explorers come from any community and membership is open to all.
The Explorer post was originally organized in 1979. The purpose of the post was to find young teens interested in serving their community and learning about the Emergency Services. Over the last 30 years the post has had scores of its former members join the ranks of firefighters and EMS personnel in various volunteer agencies in the surrounding communities as well as dozens going on to be professional firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics as well as other professional careers in the Emergency Services. The Explorer program is vital in helping young men and women pursue an internal calling to help others and focus on a heroic discipline from a very young age.
This fundraiser is to raise the necessary funds for the purchase of a very unique, but necessary and potentially life saving training tool, the Firehouse Innovations forcible Entry Door. This specially designed door is in use by hundreds of agencies across the globe and teaches firefighters how to breach multiple sets of doors to gain access to rooms and buildings that often have victims trapped. Without learning how to do breach these doors, firefighters can't rescue people that are trapped. Learning how to gain access is a critical skill and one that the Explorers will become skilled and experienced in well before any emergency.
Please help the Explorer Program reach a new level of success and training.
