Story:
Hi, my name is Brian. Asking for help like this is something I never thought I’d have to do, but my family and I are in a very difficult situation, and we’re hoping for a little support to get through this.
On July 1st, I was laid off along with over 15,000 others in my industry. Since then, I’ve been applying nonstop, but the job market has been brutal. A few times I’ve gotten interviews, but instead of offers I’ve been told I’m “overqualified.” Ageism has made this process even harder. I want nothing more than to get back to work and provide for my family, but right now, the opportunities just aren’t there.
My wife Cody has been a stay-at-home mom caring full-time for our two amazing autistic children. They need her support daily, and both of them require medication to function and thrive. She’s been trying to find flexible work and side hustles, but nothing has provided the income we need to keep up with our bills.
On top of everything, I am a Type 1 Diabetic and insulin-dependent. Between my medical needs, our children’s medications, and basic living expenses, we are completely overwhelmed.
Right now, we are facing:
$3,050 rent (per month)
$600 car payment (our only car, needed to take our kids to and from school and appointments)
$750 utilities (electric, water, gas)
$300 for my insulin and supplies
$200 for our children’s medications
$500 for food, gas, and other essentials
We want to be honest about how much we need: covering these expenses for the next 4 months (September–December) totals $21,600. We know this is a big number, but every donation counts — even $10, $25, or $50 will help keep a roof over our heads, ensure our children have the medications they need, and keep our car for school and medical appointments.
We are doing everything we can to get back on our feet, and we hope to secure jobs before the end of the year. Until then, your support will make an enormous difference in our family’s life. If you can’t donate, sharing our story would mean just as much.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping our family during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Brian
