Friends - A few weeks ago I posted a message on the Lago Vista Community Page asking for home projects for people in need of help and in particularly difficult financial situations. Since that time we have looked at several projects and have completed a minor repair with the help of some good people here in our great community. Thanks to all who have helped and offered to help.
Our first real project is for a very nice family who lost a child over a year ago and from that point on they've had a string of bad luck that has prevented them from being able to catch up.
This family has a deck on the back of their house that's in dire need of repair and safety updates. The deck is covered with a very leaky roof and unsafe railing and stairs. The cover is also in need of a screen because one of the family members has a severely allergic type of reaction to mosquito bites.
Our team of volunteers will be tearing down the roof and railing on the 18th of August and we will be tearing down the rest of the deck and stairs and rebuilding the roof and screened in area in the following weeks.
This is where you can help. We will not know the exact cost of the project until we tear down the old structure and draw up the plans for the new structure and make a materials list. We have been offered some supplies from Sun Hardware and have been given a deep discount from All American Glass and project expertise has been donated by Storey Custom Homes but I certainly can't expect any of those great companies to supply everything needed for this job.
I would like to ask you to please consider donating to our project. As we learn the full list of materials needed the project cost will likely change however any donation amount will certainly help. Thank you in advance for your sincere consideration!
