Ladybug Lodge SEND Family Sensory Sessions!

Ladybug Lodge is a new and upcoming Charity in Coventry aiming to fill the gap for special needs children, young people and their families. We strive to provide activities for all of those with SEN and their families to attend in the school holidays. Our activity sessions focus on providing a safe place to play and use equipment which they may not have access to at home.

We hosted our first SEND Family Sensory Session on Monday 12th February and it was a huge success! We had over 30 families come through our doors and access safe and exciting sensory play! All our families left incredibly positive feedback, many asking if we could host more sessions in easter! We have been inundated with requests for more sessions, individual 1:1 family sessions and for partnerships with other SEND groups such as dance, drama and singing!

All funds raised will help support Ladybug Lodge to put on more sessions in the upcoming school holidays and eventually help us meet our long term goal of having a bespoke venue of our own!

At the moment it costs us approximately £500 to host one session - hiring venues, transporting equipment, insurance, DBS checks, etc!

Ladybug Lodge has been founded by Josie Wheel. Josie's younger sister, Rosie, has PMLD and they have grown up in Coventry trying to make as much accessible as possible. As a family, their favourite thing to do together is play but there is very limited places they can go in the holidays which Rosie can fully access. Josie has enlisted a team of trustees - a mix of previous colleagues and SEN parents - to ensure we can make a place in Coventry in which SEN children have the opportunity to access accessible play with their families!
