Lady Cubs Softball

Hi, my name is Wynter Troy and I’ve lived in Spring Branch pretty much my entire life. My daughter begged for years to join softball, but I had no idea where to start. My coworker mentioned a faith-based organization whose purpose is to provide the experience to low income children at an affordable price. I quickly fell in love with their purpose.

The organization is ran by volunteers. The parents have come together to make a team for our girls. A good friend has gracefully volunteered to coach the practices and another father stepped up to coach the girls for games. He has little to no experience in the sport, but is eager to give his daughter this experience. My good friend printed the names and numbers on the girls shirts for free to match the other teams in the church league.

As of now, we have eight eager little girls, just enough to make a 10U team. We would love to have at least 3 more girls.

Here is a list of equipment each girl needs:
  • rubber cleats
  • glove
  • face mask
  • helmet with mask
  • socks
  • belt
  • bat
  • softball bag
  • softball pants

These children are low income. Many without equipment. A face mask and glove alone is $80. I’ve gathered quite a but of equipment from OfferUp and Facebook marketplace, but it is quickly adding up. The goals is $1000, $120 for each player currently. Each child is currently in need of a bat, most still needing helmets with face mask, and some needing their own glove.

Children are taught about community, but many low income children are left feeling like the community doesn’t care about them. Let’s show these children our community does care. Strong communities foster a feeling of belonging by providing opportunities for interaction, collaboration, and shared experiences. Please help support and uplift these girls while providing a positive experience and showing them that as a community we do care.

By contributing to these girls, you could be changing their life.

If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to have you! Feel free to reach out to myself and I will have a background check email sent to you asap. Practices are Wednesday from 6pm-7pm.
