Lachlan’s heart ❤️

On August 31st, the most amazing and scariest thing happened… Lindsay brought our beautiful twins into the world, 10 weeks early!! Lindsay is healthy and Emma May is doing very well! She is small but gaining weight and is thriving so incredibly well; the nurses and doctors are all very impressed with her strides.

Lachlan James, however, isn’t doing as well. Just hours after he was born, they found Pulmonary Valve Stenosis; one of his little valves in his heart was too thick and not opening enough to let blood through to his lungs. He had to be rushed to Columbus to a specialty hospital where highly trained doctors could perform a procedure to open it up. That was a success, but in the meantime, the rest of his heart is working overtime to pump blood through the small opening, and now his right ventricle is too thick to let blood through. It’s being managed at the moment with medicine, but it’s only a band-aid at best. He needs heart surgery but has to wait until he is bigger and stronger before the surgeons feel comfortable doing it.

So, Lindsay and I, and Lindsay’s mom, who has been by our side every step of the way, are all in Columbus with the twins just waiting for the right moment to leap. It’s a delicate balancing act. However, while we wait, our bills back home and our expenses here are piling up, and we obviously cannot leave to work right now. We are reaching out to ask for help during this impossible time. Even if it’s just a few bucks, it would get us a meal. And even if you can’t help with money, please help with a prayer. We need our little boy to be safe and healthy. We are very grateful for all of your support and will update on Lachlan’s condition as often as we can. Thank you!!
