Laceys open heart surgery and recovery.

Donation protected
As many of you know my sister Lacey had to have a very unexpected and major open heart triple bypass surgery. She had her surgery a few days ago on Saturday October 29th. She is lucky to be alive and by the grace of God and some powerful Guardian Angels I’m so glad she is still with us. Lacey will need to be off work for 3-5 months as her body heals and recovers from everything she just went through. She will need a lot of round the clock help at home once she is discharged from her hospital stay. No driving or weight bearing activities for a minimum of 8 weeks as her sternum (breastbone) heals from being sawed open. Her husband Chris will be exhausting his two week of sick pay and then the remainder will be unpaid leave in order to be home to help Lacey and their two children. Our family is stepping up and in where we all can. It takes a village. If you know Lacey you know she is the most hard working and independent self employed photographer, go getter and a be there for everyone for anything kind of person. Now it’s our turn to be there for her. This family needs our help to get by the next few months. I know my sister would not ask if she could get out and do it on her own. If you are able to donate anything at all we all appreciate it so so so so much! Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. The prayers for strength and healing mean the world. Thank you for rooting for her as she goes through the most challenging thing physically and mentally she’s ever experienced and helping to relieve the financial burden this has caused to her family.

Lacey had been experiencing chest pains since about April, she had been trying to get answers. The pains were getting increasingly worse and more frequent to the point where it was happening multiple times a day and debilitating. She had an EKG done that results were abnormal and was finally able to get in with a cardiologist after a few strings were pulled by her best friend Sarah who worked for a cardiologist clinic. THANK YOU Sarah! Not totally convinced since she’s only 33 yrs young and lives a healthy lifestyle she was sent home and would come back in a few weeks for more testing, a stress test which is an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) done with some cardio (10/19/22). Results from this showed abnormal the next step was to get angiogram. A week later I took her in for her angiogram as she’d need a ride due to sedation for this procedure, an angiogram is a scan that shows blood flow through veins and arteries, they went in through an artery in her arm and all the way to her heart, pumped dye in it to see in the images if there were any blockages of blood flow, turns out she had 3 major blocks, two 99% blocked and one 100% blocked arteries in her heart and her ejection fraction (the hearts ability to squeeze to pump blood) was at 30% and normal is around 70%. Her heart was very weak. It was a wonder how she hadn’t had a massive heart attack yet. The doctors told her she was a ticking time bomb. They determined right away lacey would not be going home and she’d be admitted to the hospital for open heart surgery. And here we were thinking she’d be getting a possible stent turned to needing the scariest and one of the most major surgeries someone can undergo 2 days later. The surgery went well. Even though very well managed they believe her diabetes (type 1 diabetic since 12 yrs old) is what possibly accelerated this circumstance for her. Lacey will also need to repeat this surgery at some point later on in life. The surgeon was amazing and incredible. Very thankful she’s been in such great hands.

Lacey is currently still in cardiac ICU working on the daily goals she needs to check in order to be discharged. It’s going to be a long and difficult road but she is one of the strongest and most determined people I’ve ever known. Thank you all for checking in, praying and rooting for her. It’s an amazing thing to see all her people supporting her.
