Lacey and Adams surrogacy journey - Our story

Our journey so far ..
In 2018, Lacey and Adam made the decision to start their journey to start a family. After the trip of a lifetime to America, they decided after 5 years together that they wanted to grow their family. In January 2019, that journey started. After 9 months, they had the excitement of their first pregnancy, which unfortunately wasn't to be and tragically ended in a miscarriage. During this period, Lacey began experiencing quite a lot of pain but put it down to changes in her body, tried to heal and move forward with the journey,
In April 2020, Adam and Lacey found out they were expecting again, Unfortunately, this brought a bit of fear following what had happened with the first pregnancy however they went forward with the idea that if it was meant to be it will be, Unfortunately this, too, ended in miscarriage. By this point Lacey was experiencing a debilitating amount of pain that began to affect her life, making her take numerous days off from work and spending many days bed ridden from pain. At this point Lacey began to feel like something just wasn't right, after losing her mum to cervical cancer in 2016, she was very aware when it came to gynaecological pain.

After numerous scans and back and forth with the GP, Lacey was finally referred to a specialist who theorized that she could have endometriosis and scheduled her to have a laparoscopy to investigate further. Nothing could really prepare Adam and Lacey for the news they received after this. The operation determined that Lacey had an abnormality with her uterus called a "unicornate uterus" which is layman's terms is having half a uterus. This meaning that carrying her own baby would carry risks to hers and her babies life.  There are a few people out there who have been successful however, they were the lucky ones (the token success stories). If Adam and Lacey wanted to pursue a "natural pregnancy" journey, it would risk more miscarriages, still birth, pre term labour (there's not enough room to fully cook a baby in there), and even death (for Lacey) and the end result is a live foetal birth rate of 29%.
Lacey was then scheduled to have further surgery in December 2020 to remove her endometriosis and the non functioning part of her uterus. This surgery found endometriosis in the majority of her abdomen such as ovaries ureters, bladder, bowels, appendix and ovaries.
This brings us to now, this has obviously been such a roller coaster of emotions and unpredictabilities, however we are still trying to pursue our dream of having a family.

Our mantra is now While it may not be the conventional way, its still a route, albeit the scenic route but sometimes, just sometimes the scenic route comes with the greatest adventures.

With this we have decided to reach out, to our family, our friends even the kindness of strangers, we need your help to complete our story....we just want to be mum and dad..

we have found a surrogate who we will forever be thankful for however the financial costs alone could take us nearly 3 to 4 years to save for. With a nurses salary and adam on furlough, this end point seems further and further away.

please help us finish our journey to becoming mum and Dad

Lacey and Adam
