Labour of Love is a 24-hour movement fundraiser in support of Reggie, the son of Hammy and Lucy, who is living with an extremely rare genetic condition called Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG).

Reggie’s condition affects every single cell in his body, as he can’t complete the glycosylation process. As a result, this impacts multiple systems, including neurological development, muscle tone, immunity and overall health. Reggie is currently living with Epilepsy, Cortical Vision Impairment, Hypotonia (low muscle tone) and Global Developmental Delays.

CDG is a life-limiting and unpredictable condition. Families live with ongoing uncertainty, and much of the focus is on managing symptoms, supporting comfort, and prioritising quality of life — making the most of every good day, every small win, and every moment together.

Reggie’s subtype, ALG1-CDG (CDG-1K), is incredibly rare. There are fewer than 100 people known worldwide with this condition.

There is currently no cure.

Life for Reggie and his family involves constant medical care, therapies, specialist equipment, and an ongoing emotional and financial load. This fundraiser exists to help ease some of that burden and give Hammy and Lucy the space to focus fully on Reggie.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help support Reggie’s ongoing care, including medical and therapy costs, specialist equipment, travel to appointments, and reducing the day-to-day financial pressure on Hammy and Lucy so they can focus on Reggie.

The Labour of Love event is one way we’re bringing the community together to support them, but donations are not tied to participation.
