Hi, I’m Laanii and thank you so much for being here and for supporting the person you’re backing today. It honestly means so much to me and my family.

Ever since I watched my mum do a firewalk, I’ve wanted to be brave enough to do one myself. This feels like the right moment to step outside my comfort zone and do something that scares me a little, to help some things that are really important to me and my family.

This firewalk is raising money for two causes that are very close to my heart. One supports my journey to the 2027 World Scout Jamboree, which is an amazing opportunity for me to grow in confidence, leadership, resilience, and global awareness. I’ll be bringing those skills back to my Scout group in Godshill where I am a young leader and to my community so I can truly pay this forward.

The other cause is The Daisy Ring Bus, a vital service that helps cancer patients travel safely from the Isle of Wight ferry to mainland hospitals. My dad, Ian, uses the Daisy Ring Bus regularly as part of his cancer jouney, and the care and support they provide has meant so much to our family. Giving back to them through this event felt really important to me and to us all.

Any profits raised from this event will be shared between these two causes, and we’re hoping to raise as much as possible.

Everyone taking part in the firewalk is doing something genuinely courageous by stepping well outside their comfort zone, and I’m so grateful to each person who has said yes to the challenge.
