La clinique juridique de St-Michel - Non Profit

I live in a bubble of privilege. I have the privilege of celebrating another birthday (39) with my friends and family. I get another year to be alive. I am so very grateful for all the freedom I have. Others do not have this freedom, some have their rights and freedom taken from them and some innocently die. Reflecting on 2020, a lot of us have struggled with covid, losing loved ones, mental and physical health etc. However, nothing has stopped me in my tracks like these last couple of days have. I have been unable to see how I can help. How can I make a difference. People have said you can’t change it. There is nothing you can do. For all of you that feel immobilized by the terrible racism, racial profiling, police brutality, wrongful convictions, I encourage you today to donate to the non profit Clinique Juridique de Saint-Michel through my fundraiser. Some say what can my $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 do.... in all honesty not much alone. But together maybe we can help one person, and helping one person is better than doing nothing. The world is better when we support each other together. So this year instead of buying me drinks (for those who know, I’m no cheap drunk) or gifts, please help me raise money for CJSM Their work is important now more than ever. This is not just happening in America. This happens right here in Montreal/Laval everyday. A bit about CJSM La Clinique juridique de Saint-Michel est un organisme à but non lucratif qui cherche à promouvoir l’accessibilité à la justice en se positionnant comme étant un pionnier dans le quartier. Alors que plusieurs cliniques juridiques existent un peu partout sur l’île de Montréal, mais ont vocation à desservir principalement leur population locale et que les centres communautaires n’ont pas les ressources adéquates pour répondre à un tel besoin, nous mettons à la disposition des Michelois aux prises avec des ennuis juridiques une équipe qui à ce jour compte plus de 20 bénévoles provenant de diverses facultés de droit et de cabinets d’avocats.
