In the midst of the COVID pandemic, hospitals around the country are dealing with a severe shortage of medical and PPE, personal protective equipment. One of the issues is the absolute lack of face masks.
We are a group of people based out of Massachusetts who are making handmade face masks and supplying them to local hospitals.
These are not N95 masks and are not CDC approved, so the physicians who are directly interacting with COVID patients cannot use them. However support staff, residents, some nurses, hospital cafeteria employees, local food banks, children's shelters and folks in assisted living facilities are able to use them. The goal is that by supplying these masks, we are able to take some of the demand off the regular N95 masks and thus free them up for the physicians who are on the front lines, who absolutely need them.
The people who are making them are a group of seamstresses who are using their skills and working with donated fabric and supplies.This is not a registered organization by any means, just a group of people who have come together to try and help. The materials so far have come from personal donations, but as you can imagine, the demand is severe, and if we can provide supplies or in any way assist them, it'll help them help the community.
This GoFundMe campaign aims to better provide these folks with fabric and other supplies as well. Please give in whatever way you can. I know these are trying times, but hopefully we can all be there for each other and get through it. Any additional funds collected will be used to order N95 masks, gloves and other PPE equipment for hospitals so we can donate those as well. Thank you!
