Step Up For Piper
In February 2025, nine-year-old Piper Sparks was hospitalised in the PICU at Townsville University Hospital. Piper is now out of the induced coma, off intubation and breathing independently, which we are so very thankful for!
Piper’s next hurdle will be to start the lengthy road to recovery. This will include intensive rehabilitation to help her reach the full potential she is capable of. This may take many months/years. Piper’s health professional team has advised time spent in Brisbane to complete rehabilitation is a real possibility. But... if anyone can prove her prognosis wrong, it's our Pipes ❤️
The loss of wages/income cannot be fathomed at this stage. We are asking for donations to ease the financial burden and allow Piper’s family to be by her side at this time of need.
We thank you so, so much in advance for any donation, big or small!
Addit *As predicted, our beautiful girl has proved her original prognosis wrong ❤️
Piper can see! Piper is smiling and giggles appropriately, usually at fart or poop jokes
Piper loves having her nails kept to perfection and is keen to show anyone who will ask about them. She recently received a signet ring from one of her grandparents which she seems so very proud of and shows me every time I visit.
The list goes on but Piper can communicate verbally in her own way. She can swallow and if she's anything like her Aunty, she'd be hanging out for a good steak right now!
Not a cent of the funds raised so far have been spent but Dean has decided to go back to work when his leave runs out. Dean won't have any leave to fall back on, when/if Pipes needs to go to Brisbane.
