Fundraising for Hospice Africa
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
In a few weeks I will be going to spend 3 months in Kampala, Uganda. While there, I will be volunteering at the headquarters of a public health NGO called Hospice Africa.
The Hospice provides palliative care across Uganda, and trains healthcare workers from all over Africa in palliative care provision. They provide a holistic service: treating physical pain through end-of-life practices and morphine administration, and treating spiritual pain through therapy informed by each patient’s faith and culture - something that underpins society in Uganda.
I’m hoping to gain both experience in the humanitarian development sector, as well as perspective on a different culture. I will be working with the international programs and research teams, writing up donor reports, impact evaluations, literature reviews etc.
To offer more than just my time, I am reaching out to ask for donations towards the great work they do. I will be funding my own expenses with money I have earned working as a tutor, so all donations will be going straight to the Hospice.
To provide some consideration for your donations!!! I will be running the “Chase the Sun” 10km race in Hyde Park on the 31st of August. In the spirit of good-natured competition, the highest donor can pick a costume for me to wear while running it (the current bid is £300 for a Mario costume....)
More info can be found on their website: https://www.hospice-africa.org
Do let me know if you have any questions.
Much love,
Kyle
