Kyle and Matthew’s adoption fund!
Donation protected
Hi Friends, Family, and Fido,
Being part of a family has long been central to both of us. We each grew up with loving parents, cherished memories, and the occasional belly laugh that leaves you gasping for air while tears squeak from your eyes. Having been married for two years now, we’ve gotten more serious about growing our family, raising children, and offering them their own cherished, love-filled memories.
After researching and soul-searching we’ve decided to pursue adoption for this part of our journey. (Biologically we can’t make a child on our own, philosophically we don’t want to pursue surrogacy, and while it’s likely we may pursue fostering in the future, our choice to pursue a domestic adoption is the right fit for us current).
We’ve recently made a great connection with an organization that specializes adoptions for LGBT+ couples and have just signed a contract to work with them through our process. Their contract fee is $18,200 and other aspects of an adoption (lawyers, home study, mother care, etc.) can vary greatly depending on the mother and her circumstances, but they are estimated to be about $20,000. So, in total, we’d like to be prepared for our adoption process to cost about $40,000.
Yes, this is a lot of money (adoption isn’t cheap). But we believe the sleepless nights and piles of laundry, diapers, and dishes will be worth it. There’s a kiddo somewhere out there (maybe still in the making), and we’re thrilled and honored to, one day, be entrusted to raise them into their best potential.
We’ve been saving up for a while. So we feel confident in being able to start this process. However, we also need to be prepared to complete the adoption process quickly in the event a birth mother chooses us to raise her child rather quickly. And that’s why we are asking you to help contribute to our adoption fund.
If you would rather donate to us without using GoFundMe, we encourage you to use Venmo (@Matthew-JohannBaker) Paypal (PayPal.me/kylejohannbaker) or send a check to our home.
We are so grateful for our family (both chosen and biological). Thanks for considering us.
With Love,
Kyle and Matthew Johann-Baker
