Hi my name is sammy and I've started this go fund me for my beautiful friend karylie son kylan. Please have a little read below on kylans condition, he has been through so much but so has his mum karylie.
Karylie is a mum to 2 beautiful children and lives in the country township of numurkah with her partner josh, kylan has been in and out of the children's hospital and this stay is now almost 3 weeks with looking to be another 2 weeks on the cards these cost are really hurting a single income family, food is not supplied to karylie or kylan (he has a special diet) karylie is unable to leave the hospital or kylan making it very difficult.
If you can spare anything at this time it would mean the world I know times are tough.
Kylan is a 2.5 year old who had cardiac surgery in February 2025. In March 2025 he had his post op review with his cardiologist at RCH Melbourne and was found to have a moderate-large left side pleural effusion.
He did a month on diuretics in hopes it would reduce the fluid in his left pleural space.
Exactly a month later Kylan was unconscious and unresponsive on the trampoline with his sister which was related to his ‘pleural effusion’. One week later he had a follow up appointment with his cardiologist where it was found the fluid had built up even more and exceeded large pleural effusion.
He was admitted to RCH Melbourne 10th of April for drainage of said fluid which was found to be a chylothorax.
A chylothorax is lymphatic fluid leaking into his left pleural space ultimately making him immunocompromised.
They put a drain in and kylan went onto a MCT (very low fat) diet in hopes it would reduce how much lymphatic fluid his body was producing.
That was unsuccessful so he did a week on TPN.
The pleural drain twisted so bad it dislodged and was removed. 2 days later he had a follow up xray and the fluid has started to reaccumulate.
At this stage kylan will be staying at RCH for another 2 weeks then they’ll decide if he needs to undergo lymphatic imaging and surgery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
