Hello my name is Paul Woolley, proud father of Jack. My partner of 22 years is Rhian and my daughter is called Eryn. Just over a year ago Jack was taken into hospital with septic arthritis in his right shoulder and needed an operation. Little did we know that three stays in hospital later we found out the terrible news that my son had been diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma a bone cancer. My son Jack has just turned 16 years old and has autism, so this has been very difficult for him and hard to process. Myself and Rhian were heartbroken when we found out and where terrified about what could happen. The doctors have been BRILLIANT and the prognosis is good for Jack and they are hopeful that Jack will make a full recovery. To get to that day Jack will have to endur 36 chemotherapy days over a 17 week period and then surgery to remove the upper right arm bone and then a prosthetic implanted and then possibly more chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We are looking at around 25 weeks give or take. Myself and Rhian both work I'm a support worker of 18 years and Rhian is a dispenser/checker at a local pharmacy. Both of our employers have been great with us but can only help so much. My son needs at least one of us with him all the time and would not be able to cope alone in hospital or at home while he is having his treatment. We are worried about being able to make end's meet while Jack is having his treatment as we will both have to take time off which after a month will be unpaid after using our holidays. It's got us worried to say the least. Any help that you could give would be greatly appreciated and would help us through a very difficult time.
Thanks for listening
Paul Woolley
