Hi everyone!
The Kununurra Picture Gardens (KPG) was established in 1963 and primarily built for the Diversion Dam wall workers families. For all of that time the KPG has been providing cinematic entertainment and venue hire to the community of Kununurra.
KPG is 100% community owned and volunteer run.
Recently we have been experiencing some projector technical issues and it is evident that our beloved projector is nearing the end of its life. We were fortunate to secure some grant funds from Water Corp to assist with replacing a part, however KPG has financed the majority of the repairs needed. The current model of constant repairs is becoming very costly and not sustainable.
For us to move forward to many more years of screening movies we need a new projector. The current quote we have is around $200k, which is well beyond our means.
There are grants available however the KPG will need to contribute a portion. With all the recent costly repairs, the KPG is not financially able to. This fund will help with the deposit and our contributions as per grant requirements.
We are asking for the community to once again support your only local outdoor cinema and help us buy a new projector and keep the doors open!
