K.T. Tent City Laundry Fund
Donation protected
My name is Ceileigh and I, along with several others, are volunteers helping to support Camp Kennedy Trudeau in Strathcona Park, which was founded after residents were evicted from Namegan’s Nation 2.0 (CRAB Park Tent City) by Vancouver Police on June 16.
Our small team is working to provide laundry service to the residents of Camp KT. Money from this fundraiser will be spent on laundry fees and logistical costs, such as purchasing laundry bags and paying transport costs associated with our laundry runs.
It's important to us to be able to provide this service to the residents of Camp KT, and we would be grateful for any amount you can contribute.
***Update September 17, 2020***
As of right now, the fund is just over $9,100 and we are SO THANKFUL! Thank you for allowing us to continue providing laundry service to the unhoused residents of Camp Kennedy Trudeau.
Since June, we've completed around 25 laundry days, picking up hundreds of loads of laundry and delivering them back to residents, washed, dried, and folded (all of this done by LUR Laundromat in East Vancouver).
The camp has grown from 50-60 tents to over 300. The COVID-19 and opioid crises have resurged. Winter, with its rain, snow, and below-freezing temperatures, is approaching. We will be doing our best to continue providing residents with laundry services as much as we can.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us this far, and we hope you'll do so again in the coming months.
