Support Our Disability Community: "Road to Independence" 100km Challenge.
Hi, my name is Dylan, this March myself and my brother Bazz will be attempting to complete one of the hardest trail runs in Australia, to help and support our disability participants & families. On the 29th of March 2025, we will be competing in the Buffalo Stampede 100km race, which involves traversing over 5000m of elevation throughout the mountains near Bright, VIC. We start in Bright at 6am, and we have 28 hours to finish.
The Road to Independence is a program which is designed to assist young adults living with a disability, to gain independent living skills with the goal of independent living in the future.
The program is held at Avondale Place, which is a community funded respite home, which has four adjoining units. The program is operated within the respite home, with the goal of transitioning participants into the units.
We have 14 active young adults who are accessing the program, they are on a monthly rotation of two nights a week.
We are aiming to raise $5,000 for the Henty Respite Trust, a charity, who is subsidising the program. Which will help pay for utility costs, food, activities, staff hours and marketing to continue to promote opportunity for our disability community. These costs will help families, as they are currently baring the costs.
How you can get involved:
- Donate to help us reach the goal and support the disability community.
- Spread the word by sharing this challenge and encouraging other people to access the program.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference and give these young adults living with disability an opportunity to live a life of complete independence and freedom. Building their confidence and self worth, and making them an integral part of our community and society.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Give myself and Bazz a strong reason to finish this monster challenge.
Donate today and help us reach independence.
