We have started a FB group
KRV COVID19 HEALTHY SHOPPING RESOURCE
In an effort to get volunteers to shop and run errands for elderly and more at risk citizens in our somewhat secluded community of 25 to 40k people depending on the season.
We have a large retirement community here. We have a small hospital and it is the goal of our group to protect our vulnerable citizens, many of which are low or fixed income. I want to have funds to provide prepaid gas cards to volunteer drivers to help facilitate this service. We are a great community and have donations of time and services but many of our wonderful community volunteers also feel the financial stress of the current crisis as the KRV relies heavily upon tourism to provide their livelihoods and the gas cards would go a long way.
The group also offers a place for our local restaurants and businesses to advertise and update citizens regarding their new Covid19 policies regarding to go and delivery service.
Many volunteers are displaced service workers that could greatly benefit from the opportunity to try and maintain a similar job of food delivery and our group tries to hook them up with the new opportunities in delivery as they arrise.
This is a temporary measure and I can only hope to take this GoFundMe request down very soon and this will all have passed but there is only benefit in being proactive and prevention always outweighs cure.
