Kristin (Squires) Reinhart Aplastic Anemia Fight!
Donation protected
My name is Chantell Mollenhauer and I am reaching out to you today to share my sister in law, Kristin Reinhart, battle with aplastic anemia since 2001. This has been a long journey for Kristin, her husband Sheldon and two daughters Taiyah (16 years old) and Tienna (13 years old), and she now faces a pivotal decision of undergoing a bone marrow transplant alongside intense chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
As such, she is facing immense financial strain as the upcoming treatments necessitate living away from her family for 4-6 months. Kristin will receive the specialised care she requires to recover, however leaves her support systems at home while she undergoes this treatment.
Kristin has worked endlessly over the past few years building her private therapy practice as a mental health social worker, and being self employed is now faced with a total loss of income for the unforeseeable future. The sheer gravity of Kristin’s medical needs is compounded by her absence from work and the strain of continuing to financially manage her life back in Swift Current is proving to be both emotionally and financially taxing. This fundraising will help alliviate some of this burden.
Your collective support is pivotal in alleviating the financial burden weighing heavily on Kristin & her family. Your generous contributions will directly assist in covering the substantial medical expenses, including the costly medications required for her long term recovery, and any additional unexpected costs associated with Kristin’s treatment. Furthermore, it will enable them to manage their existing monthly expenses back in Swift Current while affording the essential care their family needs during this trying time.
Your donation, no matter the size, will serve as a beacon of hope for Kristin and her family, providing them with the crucial support needed to navigate this challenging chapter in their lives. Your kindness and generosity will allow them to focus on what matters most: Kristin’s long term well-being and her journey towards recovery.
We thank you from the depths of our hearts for considering supporting Kristin and her family during this critical time. Your compassion and generosity will make a profound difference in their lives as they face the challenges ahead.
Kristin Story from facebook
This is a difficult post to share. I've tried writing it and re-writing it over and over again, only to come to the conclusion that perfect doesn't belong here. It only needs to be truthful.
The sticky note are the words of a good friend. I have held them close. They remind me that I can be both scared and really brave, and that life is worth celebrating, even when, and especially when, it's hard to.
As some of you are aware, I was diagnosed with a bone marrow failure disorder in 2001 called Aplastic Anemia, a rare condition where the body fails to produce enough blood cells, which remained stable until recently. It’s been a challenging time, filled with uncertainty and tough decisions. However, after much, much, MUCH consideration and consultation with my healthcare team, I’ve made the incredibly hard decision to undergo a stem cell transplant, which will occur at the beginning of May.
This journey towards healing requires me to temporarily relocate to Saskatoon for 3-4 months while Sheldon & my babies remain in Swift Current. It’s a decision that weighs heavily on our hearts, particularly for Taiyah & Tienna, who are bravely facing the changes and uncertainties alongside me. Leaving behind my familiar surroundings, my home, my social work practice, my support system & my community is no small feat, but it’s a necessary step towards a healthier & brighter future.
As we prepare to embark on this journey, I find solace in knowing that we are surrounded by a circle of love and support. Your prayers, positive thoughts, and well-wishes are a source of comfort and strength for us during this challenging time. Knowing that we have such a strong network of friends and family standing beside us gives us the courage to face each day with hope and resilience.
