We are Milford Flotilla 73, Inc., a 501(c) (3) private tax-exempt corporation ("Corporation") that owns and maintains the assets for the exclusive use by the USCGAUX Flotilla 24-03 in Milford, CT ("Flotilla'). These assets include a 31-foot patrol vessel and a training center used to educate the public about safe boating, as well as other ancillary assets necessary to help the Flotilla perform its duties.
The assets also contribute to the Flotilla's operations at very high levels of complexity and proficiency, for their ever-growing missions of recreational boating safety, and mission types including Homeland Security and environmental controls. The Flotilla is dedicated to teaching safe boating classes, conducting vessel safety checks on residents’ vessels, and patrolling local waterways and the area around Charles Island in Long Island Sound.
The Flotilla has served the boating community every year since 1939. Its finances are limited to revenues earned from teaching boating safety and navigation classes. All other operations are solely funded by the Corporation.
100% of all funds raised by the Corporation support Flotilla operations including:
● Zero funds are used for salaries or administration expenses
● Maintenance, repairs and upgrades to our 31-foot patrol vessel
● Public boating safety events
● Maintenance of our public education training facility where boating safety and navigation classes are taught
● Recruitment, retention and training of residents of Milford and area towns who wish to join our boating safety and security effort
Estimated annual costs for Flotilla operations are:
● $11,000 for maintenance and operations of our patrol vessel
● $4,000 for maintenance and repairs to our public education training facility
● $6,000 for boat and training facility insurance
● $6,000 for utilities, heat, electricity, Internet and telephone
We appreciate your generosity, no matter how small or large, because you will be supporting volunteers who serve their community, the bedrock of a strong democracy.
