Bike Ride Fundraiser Story

In 2026, I will be taking on a charity bike ride to raise money for two causes that mean the world to me and my family.

The first is a local charity that supports families in our community — providing vital help, guidance and practical support when it’s needed most.

The second cause is incredibly close to my heart.

In August 2025, our little boy was diagnosed with a rare chromosome deletion syndrome. Overnight, our world changed. We were faced with worry, uncertainty, and so many unanswered questions. Because his condition is so rare, there is very limited information available. That uncertainty can be overwhelming.

As parents, you never expect to hear words like that about your child. The impact on our family has been huge — emotionally and mentally — but our little boy continues to show strength every single day.

This ride is for him.

It’s for raising awareness of rare conditions.

It’s for supporting research and better understanding.

And it’s for helping other families who may find themselves in the same position we did — searching for answers and support.

Every mile I cycle will be for our son, for our community, and for hope.

More information about Unique - Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group: Unique aims to provide links between families whose children have similar clinical and/or practical problems caused by rare chromosome and gene disorders. Unique aims to raise awareness of these conditions, their high incidence and significance and works closely with professional contacts.
