Nestled along the base of the Kiamichi Mountains, the Kosoma Cemetery provides a final resting place for many who lived in and around nearby communities. Once a busy railway stop in Pushmataha County, Kosoma became a ghost town after the lumber mills closed and the trains no longer stopped. Even though there is little indication now that a small community once flourished, the cemetery continues to be vital for the larger group of communities nearby.
We are seeking your support to rebuild/reinforce the existing fence around the cemetery. Because of its rural location, wild pigs are constantly invading the grounds and displacing grave markers as they rut in the soil. This activity also makes it near impossible to mow the grounds where the soil has been disturbed.
If you have a loved one in the cemetery and/or would like to provide support, please consider donating. You may also contact me via messenger and I will put you in contact with those who manage the cemetery if you would like to support this cause in other ways such as labor to install the fence and/or contribute in other ways.
