Dear friends and family.
Sadly, I’d like to announce that I was diagnosed with advanced Stage 3 cancer. I was given the sad news back in March 2020 just when the world was first learning of Covid-19. To be honest, my world came crashing down. With chemotherapy and going through two surgeries to remove the cancers, the ongoing tests and monitoring, a 3rd surgery scheduled 4 months from now, I will be unable to work. Not to mention the emotional distress the ongoing financial crisis that COVID has impacted our lives.
I am using the GoFundme platform to come out in public about my condition and to ask for a helping hand in my long journey to recovery without the financial burden of medications/supplies.
My timeline back to work is unclear. It doesn’t look like I’ll be returning back to work, and I’ll be doing chemo sessions from here going forward. Although I am on EI, thats just for living expenses. So far, my close friends and family have been the backbone of my support system - Also, my two children who I’m trying to stay strong for.
Please - to my young people - let this be a lesson and getting cancer screening is very important especially at a young age! I ask that you respect my privacy and my family’s privacy during this difficult time. With that said everyone knows how they can contact me, and I have no problem catching up with anyone... but please respect the fact that it is very hard for me to talk about and to revisit those emotions time and time again. Going forward now everyone will know where and what I’m going to be up too for the next 5-10 years. I wish everyone the best and to stay safe. Thank you.
