KOFKE FAMILY HOME

Gerrie (Geraldine) Carpenter-Kofke desperately needs help or she’ll soon be homeless. Gerrie’s husband Eddie was self employed, operating a small retail business when he died in 2007. (from a sudden heart attack) Within weeks, the business ceased to operate, Gerrie’s income immediately stopped, there was no cash on hand and to make matters worse, Eddie’s small life insurance policy barely covered the funeral expenses. Gerrie’s been struggling financially since then trying to keep her house from foreclosure. To add to her despondency, In 2015, death once again took a piece of her heart when her oldest daughter died suddenly and tragically. With her husband taken without notice, her oldest daughter died at age 44, the bank moved full speed towards foreclose aginst Gerrie. During this time, her house is broken into while she wasn’t home, the thief taking her most valuable possession, her wedding ring.
The battle with the bank is now over, Gerrie lost and has less than 120 days to vacate or be thrown out. Her home for the last 35 years will soon be taken. Gerrie at age 70, is physically, emotionally and spiritually drained to say the least. We don’t know how she has made it this far except for the grace of God. She has no savings, cannot afford rent, a small off and on part time job that supplements her meager social security income is all she has. She has nowhere to go. Gerrie's proud Italian heritage holds her back from asking for help, so I'm asking for her. I’m Gerri’s brother-in-law. I’ve known Gerri since teenage years, she married my brother Eddie. She is kind, caring and deserving and would be the first to help someone if the situation was reversed.
Gerri’s 3 surviving children are scattered over the country and struggling like most young families with small children, limited incomes and trying to get a career off the ground. If they or I had the resources, this Go Fund Me page wouldn’t be necessary, but it is and the money is desperately needed to save this wonderful person more heartache. Life isn’t guaranteed to be fair, but Gerri has had enough heartache for two lifetimes.
Any money raised will go towards housing for Gerrie. We've set up Gerrie's daughter, Ashley Whitehead, as the benificiary so that we can move quickly to secure mom's new place when we find one. Mom's never searched for a living space so her kids plan on doing it for her. First, we will negotiate with the bank to see if they will accept money raised from this GoFundMe so that Gerrie doesn’t have to leave her home. But all indications so far are that they won’t. If we can't keep this house, we will try to secure a humble one in the same town so that Gerrie can keep her life as close to home as possible. By this summer, housing will be desperately needed. Time is running out! PLEASE HELP Today!
Our immediate family has limited resources, so we are turning to our extended family and dear friends and everyone and anyone who has a giving heart, a tender heart that can Bless the remaining years of Gerri’s life with a roof over her head without the dread of being homeless. Would you please make a donation today. It will have the most profound effect on someone who has lived with over a decade of sadness and heartache and now facing homelessness. It will change the life and the future of this wonderful person, bringing her years of joy instead of living the remainder of her life in sadness and depression.
Your donation of any amount will not be forgotten.
