Kodiak Quadruplets

For those of you that may not know Harlen & I directly, here is a few things about us ♥️ We were both born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska and are 25 years old. We are high school sweethearts of 9 years together and truly are best friends. We married during the 2020 pandemic and have 3 very loved dogs together.
We are overflowing with joy about our news and truly believe that God brought us to it and he will bring us through it!

We have been preparing to buy a home and have a baby but did not expect everything to happen at once, let alone prepared to bring 4 babies into this crazy world!

We will keep everyone as updated as we can but here is what we know so far:

  • I am 14 weeks along (as of December 22) and all 4 babies seem to be very healthy and growing on par.
  • They seem to all be fraternal and the doctors early guess is 2 girls and 2 boys. We’re hoping they’re right!
  • I will most likely only be able to carry the babies to 29-33 weeks, which is April 2022.
  • Anchorage may or may not be an option depending on how my pregnancy progresses.
  • At 20 weeks they will want Harlen and I to leave Kodiak so that we can be monitored, preventing any issues with the health of our babies or I.
  • Our next appointment will be on Jan 6 to take another look at the babies and continue to watch for any potential setbacks.

Our entire situation offers a unique set of obstacles.

  • We will need all the baby essentials x4 (and babies are expensive!)
  • We have officially outgrown our small apartment and will need a home with more space and no stairs, thankfully we found a home to buy at the right time! However, a down payment and closing costs are expected on our new home which will consume most of our savings.
  • We will be away from home and mostly unable to work for at least 3-4 months, depending on when the babies are born and how much time they will need in the NICU.
  • Traveling costs and getting comfortable with wherever we may be for a few months.
  • The closing date on our new home is Jan 28 and the doctors will most likely want us in Anchorage/Seattle on Feb 6, which means we may only have a week or so to move before we leave (let alone make any small adjustments to the home).
  • We will need to adjust our vehicle situation so that we can get a family car.
  • Our dogs will need care while we are away (along with an unexpected vet bill that arose a few weeks ago when our Great Dane was hit by a car while we were out of town).
  • Once we arrive back in Kodiak, our jobs will have to be adjusted to our new schedule and we will need help with child care, taking care of 4 sweet babies around the clock.

We are hard working Alaskans and are hesitant to ask for help but it’s needless to say that our hands and our hearts are going to be full ♥️

Through all of these obstacles, we are happy and confident that we can do this however, any and all support is appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you!

“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
For I am the LORD, your God”
