Kobi’s Story

Nikki and Matthew welcomed their little bundle of joy into this world on 22.05.2021. This little bundle of joy was just no ordinary little boy as he was born with his own special powers. Kobi Jackson Davis was born with an extra chromosome, which is known as T21 - Down syndrome. Despite being offered multiple opportunities to ‘terminate’ the pregnancy, Nikki and Matthew were delighted that they were chosen as his parents. However, we knew that our Kobi was too special for this world.

Kobi came into this world fighting as he was born at just 32 weeks and needing major heart surgery at 4months. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there as at the beginning of the year, Kobi’s immune system was fighting a serious virus which entered his blood stream, leaving him very poorly. After spending a handful of months in hospital, the virus was under control which meant Kobi was able to leave and return home. However, he returned back to hospital this June as he suddenly begun to deteriorate. After undergoing many tests and investigations, the cause was still left unanswered and unclear to what Kobi was fighting. Unfortunately, Kobi’s body could not handle the fight anymore and he went into cardiac arrest multiple times in the early hours of 14.08.2023 and he sadly passed away shortly after.

Kobi’s passing was very unexpected and left his whole family absolutely heartbroken and confused. Kobi, despite being poorly, was never intended to grow his angel wings so soon. He was in hospital for ongoing investigations and possible treatment, but never with the intent of it being his last ever visit. Kobi was such a memorable character and he was loved deeply but all who meets him, including his big family who are now all suffering with his unexpected passing. All his family can do no is prey and hope that they can receive answers to why he was taken from us too soon. Throughout this vigorous journey, Kobi remained his bubbly, loveable and courageous self. For those who were lucky enough to meet Kobi, he’s presence was immediately known and remembered due to his smile, which could easily light up a room. Kobi got to achieve so much in his short life; more than any document or professionals expected. Despite Kobi’s development challenges, he proved most people and documents wrong and was able to communicate using Makaton signing. Also, he learnt how to crawl the Kobi way and often shuffled around to get to wherever he wanted to go. However, best of all, Kobi would hands down win any dance offs out there with his unique but memorable dance moves. The boy had great taste in music and had some serious rhythm. However, there’s so much that will be missed such as: his first steps, his first day at school, his first job and so on. If you didn’t know Kobi, let me try my best to find the words to describe him. Kobi Jackson Davis, a smile that will quite literally light up the room. Even though he was only 2 years of age, he filled all our lives with happiness. He always and will always inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves. His determination and strength was just a fraction of who he was, alongside his famous fake laugh and death stare. Kobi was very head strong and knew exactly what he wanted and would always find a way to express that. Kobi loved most things a 2 year old would but he especially loved the Teletubbies and Coco Melon. In fact, he was obsessed with both of these programmes, what 2 year old wouldn’t be? Thanks to one of his cousins, Kobi also loved to ‘doof doof’ people. We all said how he’d make a perfect boxer as he had a fantastic upper cut! The purpose for setting up this go fund me page is to share Kobi’s story to the world. His family, especially his Mum and Dad, miss him more and more each day. By sharing Kobi’s story to the world, it won’t fill the hole that is permanently missing in their hearts, but it may contribute to helping others out there. No parent ever wants to imagine outliving their child. Unfortunately this is reality for Nikki and Matthew. But on top of this, whilst they are grieving, they are having to find the strength to plan his funeral and carry on with general life itself. Kobi loved to PARTY, so the plan is to go BIG and to have a send off that he truly deserves. Kobi’s parents and family have been inundated with many kind messages asking ways they can help. For this reason, we have set this page up to share his journey but also as platform for anyone who would like to help. Also, this will relieve the added stress from his parents. We appreciate the time you have taken to read all about our Kobs. Kobi’s family x
