K-Mart Mural

There is an initiative to cover the front facade of the K-Mart building on East Lake and Nicollet with murals from local artists. As many of you know, this was the second major place in south Minneapolis to be hit during the aftermath of George Floyd's murder. The building is expected to be demolished sometime late this summer but in the meantime will serve as a community gathering place as well as a fresh produce drive for the neighborhood as they begin healing and recovering from the devastation. I have been selected to paint the section of the facade underneath the awning and I will be inviting youth to assist me in the completion of the mural. My labor will be pro bono. A small amount will be offered to each of the artists involved in the facade project but it's not enough to cover the material costs.

Many of you have asked what can I do?
Here is your chance to help me create a hopeful and positive backdrop for a part of the community that will continue to serve the people that are recuperating and transitioning to the changes soon to take place in that area. Art is healing. Let's give something to the community to do just that! Every cent you donate will be used for paint, brushes and other incidentals in producing the art. Anything extra will be used to purchase water and snacks for the youth that assist me.
