Our Adoption Journey
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Kendra. My husband Caleb and I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to read this. We both feel "weird" and a little uncomfortable creating a Gofundme but at the urging of family and friends, we are putting our faith in the kindness of others.
Our story begins like any other couple, with dreams and aspirations of starting a family after getting married. After two years of trying unsuccessfully to have a child on our own, we began to consult with a fertility specialist who first tried us on several fertility drugs with no success. The doctor was unable to give us a reason as to why we were unsuccessful, so we opted to start down the road known as IVF. In Vitro Fertilization is an extremely costly procedure that insurance does not cover but we gave it a go anyways. We drove to New York to have the procedure done and returned home after spending a week in Syracuse going through the process. Our heart's were broken when we learned that the procedure had failed for reasons unknown to us or the doctors. Through this, we kept our faith and knew that there had to be a reason for this outcome even if it was not readily apparent. After much discussion, we decided that our path was not to continue with IVF but to begin the process of adoption. This was a very difficult decision to make but we know in our hearts that a child is waiting for a loving family and a place to call home. That being said, we could not be more excited to begin this journey together. The downside to this is that adoption is an incredibly expensive and time-consuming process. The average adoption with legal fees and adoption agency fees ranges between 25,000-30,000$. We know without a doubt if we could get through this process and find a child to call our own we could give him/her a wonderful life full of love and opportunities they might not have originally had. We do not expect to meet our "goal" but we hope for and would be eternally grateful for any help we could get from the community toward making our dreams come true. If you made it to the end of this just know that we are thankful for you, even if it was just taking the time to read our story.
Thank you,
Kendra & Caleb
