To all of you part of this incredible mission, the Kiwengwa Medical Clinic started as a vision that Dr. Rashid had for the community. You listened to this idea and committed to supporting both the dream and the community. We are forever grateful and thank you. Please enjoy the video of what happens when we come together and believe. Believe that something is possible if we just have faith, courage, and perseverance, and it has brought us to where we are now.
The clinic's doors are open, and the electrician is preparing everything for the generator installation over the next few days. Today, December 1, 2025, there is hope and optimism for improved healthcare access for the well-being of the Kiwengwa Community.
Since my commitment to Dr. Rashid and the clinic has been fulfilled, I now trust their true ability to serve and care for the people who visit this first-class facility. I will keep this GoFundMe page open for ongoing donations; contributions will go directly to the clinic. You're welcome to donate again if you feel inspired, as the funds will help the clinic grow and invest in additional equipment and supplies. I will continue to find ways to support this clinic silently within my network, including helping with a marketing and promotional plan for its next chapter. I envision creating opportunities for medical professionals to travel to Kiwengwa and donate their time and expertise to train and educate the local medical team in their specialties. I would love to see a program focused on continuing education to broaden knowledge of effective treatments and elevate the standard of care.
In closing, I have deep love and respect for those who entrusted me to serve as the conduit for your donations and support in fulfilling this mission here at Kiwengwa Medical Clinic. I pray that your generosity, shown, multiplies in every way, bringing goodness and blessings to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Robert Ryan Holmes

Thank you for all of your support and contributions for reaching our phase 2 build out of the Kiwengwa Medical Clinic. We are now preparing to move into phase 3. I am working with Dr. Rashid to finalize our budget and list of needed items. I will post the updates to our new target numbers and list once we have this compiled.

May 10, 2023
Update of the final $13,500 needed to be raised we have only $4,650 dollars to go. Please see the video update that we shot today to get a clear view of what your support has done for the Kiwengwa Community. We thank you from the bottom of our heart.

May 3, 2023

Update as of May 3, 2023. We are approaching our target goal of finishing the Phase 2 build-out set for June 1st, 2024. We thank you so much for your support and blessing this community by improving the infrastructure with a medical clinic.

We have made so much progress. As of today, we have completed building the security wall around the clinic, installed 6 of the 11 doors inside the clinic, finished the black and grey water septic tank installation, plumbed the whole clinic, and finished widening all the doorways to be wheelchair accessible. We have purchased all the tiles (for floors and walls) and two toilets that are now ready to be installed. We have finished all the plaster application on the walls outside the clinic building, and it needs to be sanded before we can paint.

This is the last piece we must do before we complete the Phase 2 build-out.

Purchase and Install the Water pressure pump. Purchase and Install the Three-phase Electrical Panel. Purchase and Install 9 windows and 5 doors. A three-phase drop from the transformer to the clinic with one power pole is needed. Purchase and install all electrical materials for the clinic, which includes (switches, plugins, wires, sockets, and circuit breakers. Have the front gate made and installed. Metal poles are to be made and installed for the laundry drying area. 3 sinks are to be purchased and installed. Labor is needed to install all the tiles for the floors throughout and the walls in the bathroom areas. Purchase and install 4 AC units. Purchase and install 9 ceiling fans. Labor for Electrician to install all of the electrical components. Build out and secure the organization of the pharmacy. Laboratory shelving and locking cabinets under the countertop. Purchase the fridge for the Laboratory. Design the logo and 4 signs for outside the clinic and road. Signage inside the clinic. Landscaping is needed for the clinic. Plaster and paint the security perimeter wall. Purchase and labor for paint and material for outside and inside the clinic building. A secure medical waste storage facility is to be built outside. A covered area needed materials and labor to build an outside washing area for linens.

We ask for your continued support and sharing of our fundraiser. We are inching closer and closer to our final goal. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. We appreciate you very much.

November 2022 update:
Thank you for everyone's contributions to get us to this point today. Please see the new updated video posted. It gives a nice before and where we are now perspective. We are asking for your continued support. We have a little more fundraising to do to get to our phase two buildout. With your help it will be possible to open this clinic.

Late March 2022 update:

We have reached our phase one goal of $5,000 dollars finishing the two exam rooms and entrance area. I have posted an updated video that gives more clarity and a visual representation of how things are coming along at the clinic. I have raised the bar on funding moving into phase 2 of the build out of the health clinic. The Phase two goal of reaching $12,000 dollars.

Thank you to all of you who have supported us on this fundraiser for the Kiwengwa Clinic. We need continued support, so please contribute what you can and share with those in your family and friends.

Sincerely,
RRH

I am back in Tanzania, and I have selected a project which can bring the most good. In Kiwengwa, a small town on the east-central coast of Zanzibar. There is a Dr. Rashid, who is opening a small clinic. I would like to ask for your help in funding the last steps of his clinic. The building is already built just needs to be finished inside so that he can start seeing patients.

In 2015 when I made my first trip to Tanzania, I came down with sepsis (blood poisoning), I was taken to a hotel which was the only place in this area where you could see a Doctor. The one who was on duty that day was Dr. Rashid and he saved my life. Now after Covid, the hotel has changed its policy and people from outside the hotel are no longer able to see the Doctor on call. This has left a void in the Kiwengwa area as medical care now is not available for the people who live here and tourists not staying at the hotel. So now he has built a small two- exam room clinic and needs our assistance to finish phase one.

Contractors have given an estimate, of what is needed for phase one of the build out. Finish the two exam rooms. This list consists of plumbing, water tank, electrical, ceiling, plaster, flooring, windows, painting, door installation, and furnishing the entry with tables, chairs, and interior items.

The total estimate is $5,000 dollars. Anything more than this will be put towards phase two of the build out.

If you would be so kind in support of this community and Dr. Rashid it would be most appreciated. Please contribute what you can and share this crowdfunding opportunity with your friends and family.

Sincerely,
