Kireka Blood Donation Drive
Donation protected
Every year as Uganda enters into the festive season, the country is faced with low blood stocks due to their primary donations sources, schools, being on holidays. As such, the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS) is urgently requesting Ugandans who are able to give generously this holiday season.
"We need to support each other, as most medical conditions are emergencies that require blood," said Dr Dorothy Kyeyune Byabazaire of the UBTS, emphasizing the constant need for blood donations. "Mothers with child complications, severe anaemia, sickle cell, cancer, accident victims, and those undergoing surgeries and medical conditions need blood every day."
To support this cause, the Kireka Chupacabras Football Club and Kasangati Aid Network are partnering with the Uganda Red Cross Society to hold a blood donation clinic at Good Samaritan Family Medical Center this Friday, December 27th. Such events do have costs however, so we are reaching out to our supporters to request donations to cover the event's costs.
We are anticipating the following costs, which we are requesting help to cover (all prices in Canadian Dollars):
- Snacks and drinks for donors - $125;
- Venue/tent rental - $105;
- Gifts for volunteers - $40;
- Lunch for volunteers - $35;
- Event Promotion - $25
If we are able to exceed our goal, excess funds will be divided between future Red Cross blood donation clinics, Kasangati Aid Network's emergency relief fund, and the Kireka Chupacabras scholarship fund.
This Christmas season, consider giving the ultimate gift, as your donation toward this fundraiser helps give the gift of life to those in need of blood. All contributions welcome!
