Kindness Lives On

Donation protected
In order to celebrate national "Random Acts of Kindness Day", Mama Said Tees is teaming up with GoFundMe in order to raise funds and awareness to an organization near and dear to their hearts. Three years ago, two moms (Colleen Stine and Colleen Berkowitz) co-founded their company with a dream of spreading kindness to children.  A few days after the launch, Colleen Stine’s world was shattered. Her sister and best friend was shot and killed by her ex-husband who then took his own life leaving behind two boys who were then only 10 and 8 years old. Colleen Stine, who then had 2 kids of her own moved home to Indianapolis from St. Louis and adopted her 2 nephews. She and her husband are now raising their 5 children together.

Colleen was stricken with grief and a myriad of emotions upon losing her sister. She now had to become a mother figure to her nephews, two young boys who had just lost their parents in the most unthinkable way.  She needed help and she turned to the Family Lives On Foundation. The organization became a healing power to the family, especially the boys. It helped them cope with the devastating loss of their parents, but also helped continue their parents' memory. The foundation helps to keep the boys’ family traditions alive while also offering a “safe place” for the boys so they don't feel alone. Children need their parents, and if the unimaginable happens and they lose a parent, they are still kids; they still need to feel loved, to hold onto whatever they can of their parents memory, and Family Lives On allows that to happen.

The impact the donor can have is  priceless. You are helping children feel safe and loved after going through something that may make them feel like they had just lost their entire life... No one knows what this grief is like unless they have experienced it themselves, and Family Lives On provides kids like Colleen’s boys a sense of love and hope all while keeping their parents legacy alive.

When Colleen and Colleen started Mama Said Tees they had no idea where the company would go. Colleen Stine experienced a horrific tragedy yet kindness is what has gotten her through her grief. Her sister, Shannon, was the epitome of kindness, and Colleen knows her legacy lives on through the amazing mission of Mama Said Tees. Family Lives On is the ultimate example of how kindness can help someone in the most unbelieavable way.
