Kindness taken advantage of

Tax deductible
Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out under some unique and challenging circumstances. A very close friend and someone I've known well for a long time has been an incredible force of good in our community for many years. This person has always been the first to lend a hand, share knowledge, or offer support, expecting nothing in return.

Sadly, their kind-heartedness has been exploited, leading to a distressing situation involving a substantial debt incurred under their name by someone they trusted.

In an effort to support a friend's business, they extended their credit (and ssn) along with advice and guidance, hoping to steer the business towards stability. Regrettably, their trust was misplaced. The friend ignored the advice, made a series of unfortunate choices, and accumulated over $400,000 in debt under my friend's name.

For the last two years, they've been dealing with this situation in private, offering guidance, coordinating with creditors, and striving to manage the debt. It's been an incredibly tough journey to face alone.

Currently, there's still $250,000 outstanding, and with the individual responsible for this mess filing for bankruptcy and no longer repaying the debt, my friend is left to shoulder the full burden of this debt. Without resolution, this debt (that he did not benefit from or spend any of) threatens to ruin their credit and could lead to legal action.

They've already contributed more than $25,000 from their own pocket to mitigate the situation and are now, albeit reluctantly, reaching out to our community for support. If you've ever been on the receiving end of their generosity, now is a moment to offer a gesture of support in return, helping to alleviate this overwhelming debt.

Thank you so much for considering.
