We are the Young Leaders Group from Kilmore West Youth Project, formed in September 2023 by young people who’ve been part of the project for years. Now, we’re stepping up as positive role models for the next generation in our community.

As part of our journey toward the Gaisce Gold Award, we’ve already worked hard to give back, learn, and lead. Here’s what we’ve done so far:

Hosted two Christmas Elderly Integration Evenings to connect with and celebrate our older neighbours

Organised a Halloween Pool Party for 10–13-year-olds, giving younger kids a safe, fun community event

Led a Community Clean-Up, taking pride in our area and inspiring others to do the same

Created a Community Mural focused on Biodiversity and Irish History, promoting culture, awareness, and creativity

Now, we face our biggest challenge yet — the Gaisce Gold Residential Adventure Journey.

From August 11–16, 2025, we (4 young people and 2 youth leaders) will head to Achill Island for a 5-day expedition that involves hiking, teamwork, outdoor cooking, and living together. It’s not just a trip — it’s a test of our resilience, independence, leadership, and teamwork in one of Ireland’s most remote and beautiful places.

This experience is a core part of the Gaisce Gold Award, and we need your support to make it happen.
